Introducing FieldKit

I made a workout app! It’s called FieldKit: Timer & Planner. I made this app for two reasons. First, I was looking to prepare for the ultimate frisbee season and improve my sprint speed. I wanted to follow a workout plan focused on sprint development. When I went looking for apps, I was shocked to see that nothing helpful showed up when I searched for field workout, it was majority home workouts. So, I set out to create a workout app that was field-first and built specifically for athletes training outdoors.
The other reason I made this app is that I wanted to prove to myself that I can make functional apps. Prior to this, I had only made mobile games in Unity, which is a different workflow from creating a functional app like this one. As a freelancer, I want to be able to point to an app as proof I have experience in this field.
Overall, the experience was pretty straightforward, and I have to say I’m now a huge fan of Expo as a tool for building iOS and Android apps at the same time. My process was essentially as follows: Google Stitch for a design base followed by Google Antigravity and Gemini CLI for most of the programming. However, I did have to manually go into the code a few times to fix a few things AI wasn’t vibing with (no pun intended).
